Kodak DC280J (1999)

The Kodak DC280J Zoom was nothing else but the japanese version of the DC280 Zoom and marketed only in Japan. Kodak Japan announced it on 1999-06-22. It was the second and last digital camera of the digital science series that was released in a champagne colored camera body (next to the DC215 millennium edition). For the japanese market Kodak added the 'J' to the model name for 'Japan' and changed the camery body color from dark silver to a champagne gold. I don't think any other camera manufacturer did this, so the DC280J Zoom is pretty unique. It was also Kodak's first two million pixel digital camera.
 
The camera was better than it's predecessors in many ways. There was of course the USB port, the lens had less distortion and more accurate photometry, improved white balance, a startup time of only two seconds, interval shooting of only 1 second and the camera came fully equipped with memory card and all connection cables for Personal Computers and MACs so users could directly view and print images without buying additional accessoires.
