Kodak DC290 Zoom (1999)
The Kodak DC290 Zoom. The former flagship of Kodak's prosumer digital camera line. Announced and marketed in 1999. The Kodak DC290 had every feature that was available at that time (apart from proprietary features of some camera manufacturers of course). The DC290 could interpolate images so they would reach the quality of a 3MP camera. The camera also sported USB and serial connectivity, high precision auto focus, continuous shooting, vertical and horizontal sensors, voice recording and sync socket for an external flash among other features.
There were lots of websites specialized in writing scripts for the Digita environment. They could be directly downloaded into the camera making it a very versatile and user friendly camera. The DC290 was also upgradeable over the internet. At the time of announcement it was the only camera in its class that delivered rapid burst, audio and time lapse capabilities for more picture-taking options.
