Kodak DC40 (1995)
The birth of the Kodak DC40 in 1994 is described in great detail in the history section on this website, based on first hand accounts and testimonies, so I won't go into detail here. It was announced 1995-03-28 and had an internal flash, LCD status display, serial port, auto turn-off after 60 seconds, 37mm thread for add-on lenses, fixed ISO at 84 and manual exposure settings. The internal memory was enough to store 48 HQ pictures or 99 snapshot resolution images. It's interesting that Kodak disclosed the picture taking speed of the camera in it's manual. An image with flash could be taken every 8 seconds and without flash every 5 seconds. According to Kodak the DC40 was a "Workhorse that started the point-and-shoot digital revolution!"
