Konica Q-M100 (1997)

Konica Japan announced this camera on 1997-11-06. Konica was among the first ones to offer the same digital camera in different colors. So the camera was released in, what they called, silver and gold. The silver version (which was actually pretty dark) was sold worldwide but the gold version only in Japan thus making it a real collectible. The camera had the following features: shooting 2 frames per second, 2x digital zoom, optical and LCD viewfinder and video out terminal.

 

Konica's decision to market this camera was based on the expanding digital market, the rise of the internet and personal computers, the need for higher resolution pictures and the wide range of image database software. Also the Konica Q-M100 was the OEM model for the Hewlett Packard C20. You can see both cameras in the gallery so you can judge for yourself.
