Little Tikes JamCam Jr. (1999)

Marketed as the Little Tikes JamCam Jr. by KB Gear Interactive in Fall 1999. Some websites refer to this camera as the KB Gear JamCam Jr. or KB Gear JamCam 1.0, these names are not correct. A not so small but simple digital camera for children. One of the few powered by a 9V block battery. Actually an oval shaped chunk of plastic. Pretty sturdy but not at all consumer friendly. To change the batteries you had to take the entire camera apart. Apart from that the camera featured.... well, nothing! It had exactly two buttons, one to power on the camera and one to trigger the shutter. The viewfinder was nothing more than a square hole in the plastic body. Oh yes, it had a built-in speaker which omitted dreadful beep sounds.

The camera was aimed at children between the age of 3 and 8. There are no further specifications available apart from the ones I submitted. The included software allowed kids to frame their images into a disney style environment. Pretty much the same stuff as the Nick Click, WWF SlamCam and Barbie Cam. Above you can see the 'hi-tec' breadboard inside the camera and it's size compared to it's battery.
