Panasonic PV-SD5000 (2000)
The Panasonic PV-SD5000 is an improved version of the PV-SD4090 and the world's first 3.3 mega pixel CCD in a digital camera with dual SuperDisk Diskette and floppy disk compatibility (and of course the only one). The body color has changed from silver to a solid black. The camera could store images in JPEG and TIFF files on 120MB SuperDisks and/or 1.44MB 3.5" Floppy disks. It was also possible to record up to 5 pictures per burst in 0.9 second intervalls and XGA resolution before writing them to disk. Audio recording, 3x optical and 3x digital zoom, slow shutter feature, metering, white balance and even time lapse function are among the fine features of this camera. Another extremely cool feature was that when attached to a PC by USB slot, the camera would simply turn into a full-fledged floppy disk drive or SuperDisk drive! The large 2.5" LCD screen provided a lag-free electronic viewfinder and the large internal speaker was good enough to make the most out of movie playbacks. Another novelty was the RapidFire technology that allowed the camera to record up to 12 images before they're written to the disk.
Shortly after Panasonic announced the first SD digital camera (PV-DC 3000) and so the SuperDisk and this camera became abandonware.
