Sanyo VPC-G200 (1997)

The Sanyo VPC-G200 was announced 1997-02-18. The camera gained instant popularity because of it's many innovations like the automatic slideshow function with audio playback on a TV set. Multi image playback was also possible as was continuous interval shooting. According to Sanyo this was the world's first digital camera that would instantly playback the image right after you've taken it. The camera featured built-in flash, macro mode, self-timer, optical viewfinder, automatic white balance and the possibility to record sound bits up to 6 seconds. Initial production was set at 5,000 units per month.

 

In Japan this model was called DSC-V1 which is funny because Sony launched a digital camera in 2003 with exactly the same model name. In the above gallery you can see the japanese DSC-V1 and the VPC-G200 next to each other for the first time ever.
