Toymax WWF Slam Cam (1999)

Announced 1999-09-21 by Toymax Inc. It was their first foray into the digital camera market. Up until that point there were only two digital cameras for kids on the market. The Mattel BarbieCam and the Nick Klick camera. Toymax developed this one in co-operation with MGI Software. The camera's software allowed users to create WWF memorabilia by placing their heads on the bodies of famous wrestlers and printing the result in different formats.

The camera was a typical turn-of-the-century OEM product with CMOS sensor, single-chip solution, 9V block battery and low resolution. The pictures would come out fuzzy and grainy and the camera could only be used in broad daylight, everything else would render the images useless. The camera and software could also only be used with a Windows PC and would not run on a Mac.

The same year Hasbro Interactive announced a digital camera for kids as well, it was called either the Hasbro Nascar Cam or the Hasbro Sports Digital Camera. Neither of them ever saw the light of day.
