Minolta Dimage Pic (1997)

Minolta, for whatever reason, did not announce the Dimage Pic on their website. Maybe because the camera was made by Pretec Corp. Taiwan, anyway it was first shown on Comdex Fall '97 in it's original form. Minolta was one of the companies this cameras was licensed to, the others were AOL, Polaroid, Premier and others. This model also did not fit their digital camera line-up of 1997 with the modular Dimage V, the professional RD-175 and the soon to follow futuristic Dimage EX1500 in 1998. Maybe it was just an interim model for the entry level market and therefore didn't gain to much attention.

The specs on all camera OEM models are the same, the only thing that differs is the amount of internal memory. The Dimage Pic was well equipped for an entry level model. It had a built-in flash, LCD screen, serial port, video out port, automatic white balance and exposure settings and a self-timer mode. OEM models from this type can easily be found in mint condition every now and then. Pretec had this model manufactured in the C & C Laboratories in Taipei by the way.
