Polaroid PDC-640 (1998)

The Polaroid PDC-640 was most likely Polaroid's fourth digital camera and second OEM model. The camera was made by the chinese/vietnamese joint venture companies Shanghai Seagull and Shanghai Fudan Microelectronics Co., Ltd. Polaroid seemed to like this model very much as seven(!) different versions seem to exist. I'll get to that later. The camera was pretty similar to the PDC-300 but this time with removable memory. The rest was basic. The lens also had a slide cover which was pretty convenient. There were 5 OEM versions of this camera, each one a tad different (lens, shutter speed, CCD quality etc.).

As I said Polaroid seemed pretty fond of this model and issued and re-issued this model in seven different versions:

1999 PDC-640 Floppy - The PDC-640 together with a Flash Path Adapter in silver

2001 PDC-640M - Re-issue in rectangular body with built-in modem in silver
2001 PDC-640M - Re-issue in rectangular body with built-in modem in champagne-gold
