Toshiba PDR-5 (1998)

The Toshiba PDR-5 was announced 1998-06-01 together with the PDR-M1. The PDR-5 had a large 2-5" LCD screen that was unfortunately not backlit. It was also one of the first digital cameras to incorporate a CMOS sensor. The back was particularly interesting as it could be opened and doubled as a PCMCIA card interface. The camera had a built-in flash, 4-screen multi continuous shooting and about 10cm of macro photography to shoot four images a variety of shooting and playback mode mounted on one second, monochrome shooting, 12-screen multi playback that can list the photographed image, close the part of the image such as up can be two-fold expansion playback, equipped with a variety of functions. On the downside there were the hinges of the back door. These tended to break over the years especially when the camera was heavily used. Also the camera was powered up by the more expensive CR123 batteries. Not to be confused with the later model PDR-M5. The japanese model name was simply Allegretto 5.
