Toshiba PROSHOT PDR-100 (1995)

The Toshiba PROSHOT PDR-100 (officially PDR-100 Digital Communication Camera) was announced 1995-08-07 as the world's first digital camera equipped with a modem and communications software. So users could transmit pictures via a telephone line without using any extra equipment. The camera offered a good 2MB of internal memory, PC Card slot, built-in flash, autofocus and even the possibility to connect an external LCD monitor for image playback. I have never seen a PROSHOT PDR-100 at all so I am unsure whether it was actually sold. Production estimates were 12,000 units a year by the way. Here you can find some pretty rare pictures of said camera including the LCD monitor.

Althoug one thing confuses me, in another press document Toshiba claimed that an external modem card could be inserted into the camera and images and sound could be transmitted via a telephone line or cellular phone. So did it have a built-in modem or did it use a modem card? Unsure, unsure...
