Ricoh RDC-4300 (1998)
Ricoh announced the RDC-4300 in a press release at the CeBIT '98 in Hanover. In Japan the camera was simply called DC-4. Ricoh aimed at creating an interactive, easy to use digital camera with sophisticated features in a compact and user-friendly design. The result was the RDC-4300. The camera featured a macro mode as close as 8cm, auto focus, auto exposure, auto white balance and the possibility to record up to 8 seconds of audio with every image or simply just sound bites for later editing. The camera had a swivel lens, LCD display and could be easily connected to a personal computer. A Smart Media slot, one megapixel CCD and three compression levels made this camera a good companion for entry level users.
