Sharp VE-LC2 (1997)
Also in 1997 Sharp introduced the VE-LC2 which was basically the same model as the VE-LC1 but now with a clip-on optical viewfinder and a slightly smaller body. The VE-LC2 was also the first digital camera in the world to adopt the IrTran-P (Dubbed Infrared Transfer Picture) standard. Just like it's predecessor this model did not have a memory card slot but instead 4MB of internal flash memory. To me the VE-LC2 was a better model than the VE-LC1 but also much, much harder to find these days. Outside of Japan the camera was labeled VE-LC2H underneath the camera. Above you can see the two models compared to each other in size.
