Casio RS-20 (1993)
This beauty is another first on a private website! During the development of the Casio QV-10 and having had extensive experience with the Casio DC-90 digital cameras, Casio thought of something unique. For testing the DC-90 prototypes, Casio had used a Casio LCD TV monitor to see image results (see picture). For a long time I thought that the next step was the immediate development of the QV-10 but I learned recently that Casio initially had different plans!
After tampering with the DC-90 prototypes and the TV monitor, Casio's next step was to fuse the two devices into one unit! In 1993 Casio actually planned to develop a digital camera with a built-in TV tuner! Revolutionary idea and certainly waaaayy ahead of it's time. The Casio RS-20 alas never went into production, only a prototype model was built. After having experienced enough technical difficulties, Casio dropped the TV-tuner and focused on the digital camera part.
