Toshiba IC-100 (1989)

Toshiba's IC Card Camera dubbed the IC-100 was one out of the digital cameras to go with the Fuji/Toshiba memory card. Plans were to market such cameras as "digital still camera systems" along with a DAT-player (Digital Picture File Viewer IF-100), personal viewer (Memory Card Player IP-100) and IC memory cards with 9 and 18MB memory. The camera itself had automatic exposure control, built-in flash and high-speed sequential picture-taking of four pictures per second.

The Memory Card Player would receive the data from the camera and display the images on a conventional TV screen or monitor. It was capable of direct input into a TV receiver or monitor. The Digital Picture File Viewer would store and retrieve information. The machine would copy the images from the IC card to DAT tape and was equipped with a random access function, so that any images could easily be retrieved by keying in their number. The information would directly be send to a TV receiver or printing device.

To eliminate some errors on the internet, this digital camera does not store images on DAT digital audio tapes! It takes the same IC memory SRAM flash card as the Fuji DS-X, Fuji DS-1P, Fujix DS-100 and Olympus Estilo to name a few. The DAT Player had a convenient slot for such IC memory cards and images could be transferred without quality loss from the card to a DAT tape.
