Fujix ES-1 (1985)

The Fujix ES-1 was shown during the PMA '85 but did not hit the japanese market until 1987. The 1985 prototype was a crude box with a zoom lens at one end and wires sticking out the other end. It's initial design incorporated a .04MP MOS sensor instead of a CCD. There was no video floppy disk drive attached or any other form of storage. So the camera underwent a lot of design changes until it was marketed two years later. Despite being an SLR camera, changing lenses was not possible. Fujix also introduced a slightly improved version of their Photo TV Player P3 and simply dubbed it P4.

As a peripheral device, a video adapter could be attached to the camera as well as a dedicated flash unit. The video adapter VA-1 allowed the user to connect the camera directly to a TV unit. Another extraordinary gadget was the so-called handy monitor HM-1, this nifty little box had a built-in TFT cyber-display for reviewing images taken on video floppy disks.
