Casio QV-5000SX (1998)

The Casio QV-5000SX was a completely revamped model. Announced 1998-04-01. Casio's 12th model in the QV-series. Since Casio's cameras had evolved rapidly, the demand for a sophisticated compact digital camera was high. The QV-70 was simply outdated so Casio took the most of the QV-770 and cramped it into a sturdy compact body. It was also the first of the QV-series to sport a zoom function (4x digital). The camera received a new sensor, improved video recording and playback function, higher resolution, 8MB internal memory, optical viewfinder and all the features of the QV-770 (minus the infrared port and external memory card slot). Despite the missing features it became Casio's first megapixel camera and thus the top model in the QV-series.
