Fujix DS-505A (1996)

Fujifilm announced the DS-505A on 1996-08-21. As the internet is full of glorious reviews and details about these cameras, I won't repeat them here. Only something not many know. Apparently the Fujix DS-505A could directly transmit images via a cell phone without the use of a personal computer. Fujifilm claimes this in a press release. This was made possible by using the Fujifilm HT-220 transmitter. This very same transmitter could also be used for the Fujix DS-220 camera! Above you can see two extremely rare pictures of that transmitter.

Fujix said that this camera was the "unquestionably the digital camera for the connoisseur" because it was suitable for indoor, studio and outdoor photography alike. ISO was raised to 3200, could record continuously at one frame per second and had a variety of custom settings. The camera could store images with the speed of one frame per second in conjunction with the new Flash ATA HG memory cards. The camera was equipped with a video out terminal where an external LCD monitor could be connected and a full-fledged SCSI-2 port. Apparently there was also word of a digital image processor called DI-500D but there is no picture material or information available.
