Fujix PR-2 (1993-1995)

After having marketed the rare Fujix PR-1 and PR-1H Still Video System, Fuji decided to go digital from here and marketed the Fujix PR-2 Digital Still Pro System. It's successor was the Fujix PR-2 Digital Still Pro System featured here. The differences between the PR-2 and PR-2J are pretty much unknown. Also the specs are unknown, Fuji has no reference to any of these devices on their website. There are no documents, no articles, not even SPIE papers. Given the dimensions of the control unit, the interior and the connectors I'd say this system dates back to around 1993-1995.

My theory is that the PR-2 was the successor of the PR-1 and the PR-2J was the successor of the PR-1H. Looking inside the camera control unit I found out that the majority of the boards were manufactured (once again) by Toshiba. To be more precise by the Toshiba-Teli Corporation, a subsidiary specialized in CCD camera technology. That's all there is to say I'm afraid. The camera system consisted of a miniature camera head with a TV zoom lens that was tethered to the camera control unit. The CCU had a Video and S-Video connector as well as a remote trigger in and out jack. That was it. The signal was outputted to either a video tape recorder or a computer system with videocard or framegrabber.
