Olympus V-100 Majin (1988)

The Olympus V-100 (nicknamed MAJIN which literally means demon or devil) was a prototype still video camera and the predecessor of the marketed VC-100. It was demonstrated at the 1988 Photokina. The camera's design was that of a pair of binoculars and because the camera lacked playback capability it could be piggy-backed to a playback unit (V-200). The playback unit featured some home-TV darkroom special effects and when attached, they formed one unit which was handy and neat. The camera could record up to 15 frames per second and had a 3x zoom lens. A playback/recorder unit (V-300) was also planned and/or introduced.
